I may earn money or products from the companies mentioned in this post.
Most of what we talk about here are food-related home businesses. Still, in this article, we’re going to expand businesses we consider to include some non-food business ideas that can be run out of your home, are cheap to start, and have the potential to make a good income.

1. House Cleaning Service
You are going to be surprised how many people have a house cleaner and it’s not just rich people.
If you have decent transportation, can clean yourself up, can be likable and trustable, and can clean a house, then you can start a house cleaning business.
Honestly, I’m not an expert in starting a house cleaning business, but I do know people who are and they’d love to help you get off the ground quickly and easily.

2. Life Coach Business
Okay, this one is not for everyone.
To be a successful life coach you need to either have a successful life or be charming as hell.
Remember, everyone wishes they were more successful in life, so if you’ve not yet reached your dreams, there are still a lot of people who are behind you in the journey who would like to learn from you.
Unless you are already very successful, this is one that you need some coaching up before you’re ready to coach anyone else up.
If you’re curious about this kind of home business, I think you should start with Dr. Jones who is offering my readers a stupid large discount for his life coach training.

3. Start Raising Worms!
Okay, this one is going to sound a little crazy, but did you know you can make money-raising worms? And did you know you can raise them in your basement or even in your closet!!!
You can sell the worms to home composters or you can sell the poop as high-priced organic fertilizer.
And…I know you’re thinking about this…they don’t stink.
Oh, and it takes you only about an hour a week, you feed them food waste, and your worm ‘inventory’ doubles every 90 days or so.
This is one I’ve actually done. I haven’t sold worms, but I have raised them for my own home compost piles, for fish bait, and used their poop (castings) as organic garden fertilizer.
But I’m no expert.

4. Woodworking Business
This business takes specialized skills and good tools. But if you have woodworking skills and a good woodshop, you can make REAL money with this home-based business…maybe over $100k a year!
But if you want to figure out the secret sauce of starting a successful woodworking business, you need to start with the experts at wood profits. They say you can start with less than $1,000 and you don’t have to be an expert woodworker.
